PRESIDENT

ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE, New York, invites nominations and applications for the position of President.  Founded in Brooklyn in 1916, St. Joseph’s is an independent and co-educational College that prepares students for lives of integrity, social responsibility and service - lives that are worthy of the College's motto, Esse non videri - "To be, not to seem." The faculty (178 FT and about 250 PT) provides a strong academic and value-oriented education rooted in a liberal arts tradition to about 5,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Following on the successes built by the retiring President, Sister Elizabeth Hill, CSJ, JD, the new President is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the leadership and administration of all the activities of the College, including academic, business, and fiscal operations. The Board is seeking an experienced professional who is knowledgeable about liberal arts higher education, and has a strong background and demonstrated successful experience in administration, preferably in a higher education setting. The President will split his/her time between the two campus locations: Patchogue, Long Island and Brooklyn, NY and will have the support of experienced administrators who function as a team.  Although the two campuses are 63 miles apart, St. Joseph’s College is a single institution whose philosophy, goals, policies, administration, faculty, and curriculum are integrated.

The ideal candidate must have the credentials appropriate for a college president: a PhD or equivalent; a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant administrative experience that includes increasing responsibility, preferably in higher education; demonstrated success in a fundraising role; a comprehensive understanding of the higher education market; experience in strategic planning; and the skills necessary for building important relationships for growth of the College. The new President will have impeccable integrity, exemplary oral and written communication skills, a record of proven leadership ability and vision, and the commitment to the mission, vision and values of the College.
